UNISA incompetence led to me not register at all!

I completed a qualication with UNISA last year as a gateway qualification. Before seating for the final examinations I app**** for another qualification and was provisionally accepted provided that I pass all modules for the qualification I was to finish last year. Anyway, in October I wrote my last paper.

January 2019, I tried to register for the first semester. Dololo. System declared me excluded due to poor academic performance. How? I don't know. I emailed the VP academics office and the response was sent by one of the officers asking me to appeal, which I did. I called, well unlike other numbers Godfrey picked up his phone and if communication is in writing, he would escalate it immediately to the responsible person, but then Masemola who is Director for appeals was MIA!both via email and calls. Finally I went to campus on the 28th of Jan and had to fill in another appeal form. Honestly I doubt if Masemola did anything.

29th came and went, 30th came and just after 20:00 my appeal had gone through, which one... I got no idea! Tried to apply online just a day before registration closure. Boom! The system showed me one module from the qualification I had just finished and that module replaces another one I had passed, so no way in hell would I have registered for that module. The app**** for qualification was not even on for selection.

On the last day of registration, I went to campus again and was told that th reason my app**** for qualification is missing was because the results were not audited yet and the status need to be changed by Pretoria. My results were emailed to them and a request attached for speedily assistance. "Be positive, wait for them, call or email them should you feel you need to." I was provided with numbers that just went on ringing until I left the campus hours later!

Of the interest though is that I called Godfrey while in Campus and he referred me to another gentleman who said someone must help me there change the status so I could proceed with registration. Went back to student advisory and was told no one had such authority.

On Friday, 1 Feb, I called and emailed couple of people and no one really had any idea what should be done. The stress! Finally the Acting Executive Deans official referred me to Sonny Radinne in Joburg. I called and emailed this Sonny guy and there was absolute silence. I advised the Registrar that after so much delaying tactics I will approach courts for help. Instantly, the mighty Goolam sent an email to Sonny advising that I have been rejected due to space and I have no right really despite all communication to be admitted to the new qualification.

So on Sunday, since they said they'll be open... I am going to Campus with a blanket and toiletries, camp until my status is changed and I am offered a space and registered. Needless to say, I'll be accompanied by other students with the same problem. Gonna be a pretty sight. Are we gonna get arrested... We'll see but again I have contacted my media friends to be on standby so they can cover that should it happen.
