Pathetic attitude by guards at Unisa Pietermaritzburg

This morning, I had attempted to drop of fiancé off at the Unisa Pietermaritzburg campus for an exam. The front gates were blocked off as we guards roughly told us that there was no parking inside. I didn't mind at all, and asked the lady pleasantly if I could just enter, drop my fiancé off at the roundabout and leave. She was absolutely abrupt. She took forever to stroll to the boom gate and open it. I did as I said I would and promptly left, where I had to wait for a while for the 2 guards at the gate to come to the gate and merely swipe a card to let me out. The first guard saw me waiting and turned her back. The second initially ignored me and then deliberately took a slow stroll to come and let me out. Upon leaving, I saw another disgruntled student arguing with a guard indicating that she couldn't park outside on the street. She was complaining to a male guard. He simply laughed and joked with his colleagues who called the lady mad, in plain view and within hearing distance of the immediate public. Yet all the lady needed was to get in, get a safe parking and go write an exam.

These exam periods are stressful enough for students. Students who pay fees to attend university. It is disgusting that the security guards can have such an unhelpful and rude attitude.

And please UNISA, don't try and explain this away. Do something about your poor management of your Pietermaritzburg campus and your unruly and unhelpful staff.
