Faculty of Education Needs an Overhaul in Atitude

I honestly cannot understand why or how UNISA is even an accredited institution? I am actually appalled that in 2019 - UNISA has not changed at all.

I have been trying to get hold of information on one module that I am told,d I need to complete my qualification. My qualification is being phased out. I was told 2020 is my last chance.

I have been passed from pillar to post by the Faculty of Education. Nobody knows whats going on. I get told to email this person and that person. Nobody replies. The management at the Teaching Practice prefer to pass the buck. Nevermind my last module remaining is a teaching practice module.

It must be great being an academic who does not need to worry about students. I have worked in higher education for almost a decade. I have never encountered such incompetence and disregard for student well being.

I had to beg and plead for three years t finally be told what my outstanding fee balance was. Now I need to beg and plead to register? And still pay for this disgusting service? I am basically paying for people not to care.

Something at UNISA is rotten. The culture of not caring and buck passing is evident at all levels - top to bottom. Nobody takes accountability. Why would they when they think they have the monopoly on long distance education?

I am thrilled other public institutions are moving into the space. UNISA can keep doing this. They will have few students. When they start having to cut staff - I am sure people will suddenly care alot about students.

I have been on hold for over 6 hours trying to find out who to speak to about the module, I have emails from people who are meant to be custodians of the program telling me to contact this person and that person.

Surely, when UNISA decided to phase out something there was communication about pipe line students?

Do I need to physically travel to PTA to get an answer? Will UNISA pay for that trip? Will UNISA explain why to my employers?

This culture of not caring for students must stop. Or UNISA must get out of education. I am honestly sick and tired of the sub-par service and atitude UNISA has.

If UNISA is unable to let students complete this qualification, they must state in writing why so the student can take themselves to an institution that actually wants students to study.

I am honestly sick and tired of UNISA. I just want to finish, get my certificate and never have to contact UNISA again.

Even in post-graduate studies (I am doing my Masters) UNISA was never even a potential option. Imagine doing psot grad at a place that takes three years to answer? LOL!!!
