Embarrassment of a gentleman by UNISA staff for a racial slur that he was not even savvy to.

Incidence of ******. Poorly handled. It did occur. Security **** and tried to implicate an innocent gentleman in the incident. A man said something very inappropriate. Staff member took it upon themselves to sort out the matter. In a very aggressive, punitive and insensitive way by also reciting the inappropriate words. This thoroughly embarrassed the gentleman as he knew nothing about it. Fortunately it was late and few people present. This inappropriate way of handling the situation could have led to further heated exchanges etc I applaud the staff member for desiring to resolve and address the issue but it was done inappropriately and led to the extreme embarrassment of the wrongfully accused as he did not even witness the other man saying racial slurs. This is a sensitive issue and should have been handled better to avoid embarrassing people, the words used should not have been repeated or issue should not have been addressed in such a manner that everyone could have heard it. The security accused the gent of bearing witness to it. The gent was unaware and was embarrassed by being accused of being present to the inappropriate behaviour (which he wasn't) but was treated as if he himself had executed the inappropriate behaviour. That was grossly unfair and unpleasant for the gentleman as he was thoroughly taken aback at the accusation, embarrassed as this was done in full view of staff and other students.
