Business owner is running scared.

Unique Awnings supp**** and installed two large awnings for me in 2012. The awnings consist of support frames clad with multiwall polycarbonate sheet. I recently found small holes in the upper layer of the sheeting. The guarantee on the quotation states “ Workmanship guaranteed for 36 months from date of installation. All good supp**** are subject to the relevant manufacturer’s warranties”. And on their website the statement “ OUR GUARANTEE Our UV Protected Sheets carry a 10 Year Guarantee, and the brackets all carry a Lifetime Guarantee”. When I approached the business owner, about claiming against the manufacturers guarantee for replacement materials he asked for photos of the sheeting showing the holes, which I sent to him. He rep**** stating that the holes were caused by hail. I then asked him to quote on replacing the polycarbonate with acrylic sheeting which, according to him, is strong enough to withstand damage from large hailstones. The business owner has read my messages but doesn’t provide a quotation. I believe that the guarantee promised by Unique Awings is non existent. The polycarbonate sheeting is obviously not suitable for the weather conditions which occur in parts of South Africa, most notably in Gauteng where the business operates.
