My thoughts on Unilofts Bloemfontein
Specifically the Bloemfontein based establishment makes it very hard to believe that humanity exists in the world. The disparity in difference in how the different hues of skin are treated is appalling. Simple things like a genuine smile or some excitement about their job is severely lacking in the office folk whom deal with you. If you report any sort of issue with where you are staying as a person of colour you get cross questioned like you have committed a crime. Last year me and my roommate attempted to report a peeping-tom incident involving a security guard. We were told that we should make sure our blinds are closed and asked questions like “is it possible that the wind blew the blinds ajar???” Today that same security guard still works here and my roommate has to stare dead in the face of someone who gazed at her with dead lustful eyes everyday she enters and exits this place. Fast forward to today.
Unilofts wanted access to my place to obtain a fridge that they required. I was told I had the only set of keys and because I wasn’t available and they couldn’t locate my number. It was then decided that they would change the locks without informing me. When I asked why I wasn’t called I was met with a very cool “I dunno” It has also been discovered that there was indeed a second set of keys so they need not have changed the locks to begin with. Alas, I must be fair and balanced in my review. The positive points is that they are highly secure and have the best placement in terms of proximity to the university. Not all the staff are horrible and some do manage to put a smile on my face on really tough days but the ****** felt in the air is rife and unavoidable.
