I JUST BOUGHT A MAGNUM ICE CREAM - DEATH BY CHOCOLATE BY SHELL GARAGE IN NEWCASTLE KZN TODAY 2 DECEMBER 2015 BETWEEN 13:20 AND 13:40 AND IT WAS FULL OF ICE THE OUTER CHOCOLATE WAS FALLING OFF AS I WAS TRYING TO EAT IT. IT WAS JUST ICE AND MELTING CONSIDERING THAT THE WEATHER WAS JUST OVERCAST I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED IT LOOKED LIKE CHOCOLATE PUDDING THAT DIDNT SETTLE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS PAST ITS SELL DATE ONLY TO REALISE THAT ITS EXPIRY DATE IS 27/01/2017. I WAS SO DISAPPONTED TO THINK I WAS GOING TO BUY THE SPECIAL: BUY 2 FOR R37.00. UNFORTUNATELY I DIDNT MANAGE TO GET THE SLIP BUT THE BAR CODE IS ***056. I'M REALY DISAPPOINTED MAGNUM IS ONE ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ICE CREAM AND ITS ALWAYS MY WEEKLY TREAT
Thank you for contacting us regarding Magnum Death By Chocolate ice cream you purchased. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused. The fact that ice cream was icy and not creamy would suggest that the product had been heatshocked. This happens when the product is not maintained at the correct temperature, melts and is refrozen. Under these conditions the quality of the product deteriorates. Unfortunately Ola has little control over the cold chain once products are delivered to the store. It is our experience that from time to time the store freezers do not maintain the products at the correct temperature, which could account for the heatshock. I have forwarded your complaint to our field marketer to check fridges at Shell Garage Newcastle. Thank you for your valuable feedback.
