He's so 'undercover' that best you cover yourself before you employ him!!

<p>We employed Stephen Tills - plumber, handyman of Undercover Agencies - to complete work on my property beginning of December 2015. He told me the job should take approx 6 weeks maximum to complete.</p> <p>We renovated one full bathroom & one guest toilet & did some paint work in various areas of the house. He also did some minor maintenance whilst there like fixing door handles. He was to fit a new front gate, a new shower screen, & redo our bedroom wardrobe - to which I had paid him 50 percent deposit.</p> <p>Needless to say the glass shower pane that cost approx R5000 the first time - was incorrectly measured by Stephen so we had to pay extra to have an additional one added to it (which was not cheap as it had to be tempered glass.)</p> <p>It is now 8 MONTHS LATER!! - the work is still not 100 complete in either of the two bathrooms . The new front gate is nowhere to be found, the second glass shower screen we had to get someone else to fit as well as redoing several fixtures & fittings that stephen completed ; No start of the work on the wardrobe & NO sign of our deposit being returned nor any attempt to complete the work to which we have paid & no word from Stephen Tills??</p> <p>Subsequently - Stephen is sitting on my deposit which is a couple of thousand rand - with an excuse each time ( when i could finally get hold of him )as to why he could not complete the job. I even threatened out of sheer desperation to contact my attorney & not even that could get him to budge. I am beyond frustrated & there is no excuse for the lack of contact on his part & for not returning my deposit even if he could not complete the job.</p> <p>My other gripe with stephen is as follows:<br />His attention to detail is lacking - he takes shortcuts that cost money to get another contractor to fix </p> <p>He is terribly difficult to get hold of & you have to follow up with him whether or not he is coming in to work</p> <p>If he does come to work - he does so when it suits him & without always notifying the customer</p> <p> </p> <p>I just want to warn whomever might be thinking of employing him - please think twice as you may have to 'cover your ass' from Mr Undercover Agencies - by the time he is done (if he even gets that far).</p>
