Umvuzo's disregard for members
This medical aid is ******** of the people who have joined them . While being on the medical aid I was admitted into hospital and had an operation done. The hospital and the doctor have not been paid and I keep receiving messages from them. I have contacted Umvuzo and was advised to send through all the documents which I had done. I also sent through a motivation letter for the operation that was done and they have still not made any attempts to let me know what is happening. After my last review on 27 March. I was told that I would be contacted by someone from Umvuzo and that has not happened. Nelson from Umvuzo has advised me that he is still waiting for feedback from those who are in a higher position and it's sad that these people don't consider their members and just blatantly refrain from providing any feedback. This is highly frustrating and I have no choice but to take this matter further
Every medical scheme has different scheme rules and are approved by the Council of Medical Schemes (CMS). Once signed off, the medical aid is obliged to comply. There are instances where the Medical Advisor of the scheme may override a rule, there are certain criterion that is followed to override a scheme exclusion. Should the letter of motivation ( LOM) meet the criterion , only then the procedure can be approved.
The query and the escalation you previously raised was addressed and was taken over by your Broker, hence Umvuzo could not contact you further.
