Umvuzo Medical Aid is Useless.

My mother has been with Umvuzo medical aid for 9 years under Supreme package. In September 2020 she was diagnosed with sciatic nerve and her condition detoriates everyday. Her doctor examined her and booked operation, Umvuzo medical aid told us they can't authorize the operation because they needed report of x-ray to evaluate my mom's condition. They gave us a list of 4 documents that they said were missing. My mom's doctor sent through documents of everything that Umvuzo requested and highlighted that she needs operation asap as her medication is not effective anymore. Umvuzo medical health has kept quiet, when we call them they keep on saying there a documents missing to only find out that they don't want to give authorization. My mom was admitted in hospital because of the excruciating pain and inflammation on her right leg. Umvuzo called her the next day telling her she needs to go home the next day they only gave the hospital authorization for 1 day. As your receding she was scheduled by her doctor operation for today in the morning. Umvuzo have not approved authorization till today. They are more worried about the money they going to pay the hospital then the life of someone who has been paying every month thinking they are on one of the best medical aid. Umvuzo medical aid is useless when someone is in a life threatening situation. They value money then their clients. My mom regrets choosing Umvuzo as her medical aid.
