Stripped of citizenship by UK Abroad

Anyone who is considering using UK Abroad to assist with applying for their British passport needs to hear my experience. Back in May this year I app**** to renew my passport. I am a British citizen born in the UK but UK Abroad treated my application as a first time application and almost made me lose out on an employment opportunity because of their lackadaisical work ethic and unwillingness to listen to what I was presenting to them in terms of documents including an original birth certificate. First they took ages to respond to my enquiries the reason given for this being that the consultant who was assisting me - Glenda Pretoria was on her honeymoon - an unacceptable excuse in my opinion seeing as I had parted with R5000 for a service. Subsequent to this I almost had to beg for responses and on top of this poor service my address was captured incorrectly. I was also requested to obtain my mother and fathers marriage certificate and my mothers birth certificate as well as my fathers which is completely irrelevant because my father was born in South Africa so what bearing he could have possibly had on my application for renewal of my British passport as a British citizen I am unaware?? All of these documents came at significant extra cost and were confirmed as NOT required by the British Passport Office in the UK. I have asked 5 times for an avenue to pursue in terms of gaining a refund and making a complaint but my requests were ignored. My problem with UK Abroad is that they promote themselves as experts in the area of British passports which is clearly false advertising. I also suspect that the consultant just could not compute in her mind that I could be a British citizen as I have an African name and her blind spot to this caused her to make me jump over additional hurdles and incur more costs than what was necessary. Excuse after excuse was made without actively listening to what I was trying to tell them. UK Abroad NEVER again!!!
