Zero Responsibility taken
We have tried UCT Online for our daughter and boy has it been a rollercoaster. First of all the support coaches take forever to avail themselves for a meeting. When they eventually do avail themselves, they really dont add value and seem detached from the day to day operetions of the classes.
My daughter is grade 8 and she wrote a test in which they uploaded the wrong grade test. They loaded a grade 9 test insead of a grade 8 test. She tried to appeal and was told that the appeal window closed. My question is, befire we even talk about appeals, why was the wrong paper uploaded and why does the school not take responsibility for that error? Hiding behind an appeal process and then turning students down because the claim is that the appeal Window closed shifts the source of the problem to the student and not the school.
Its one thing if the student didn't t show up for the exam, but its another if they did and they even attempted to appeal. This has resulted with her mark the subject being zero which is unfair. Im very disappointed at this lack of responsibility and zero care demonstrate atwd towards the wellbeing of students.

We would like to share some feedback with you regarding the steps that were taken as soon as the technical error was identified to support learners:
- A banner was put up on the Online Campus to alert learners to the technical error and to request that they access the correct version of the paper, either in the initial slot or in the loadshedding slot.
- Additional writing time was added to the writing slot to ensure no learners were unfairly disadvantaged by this technical error.
- All learners were also advised that they would be able to access the Loadshedding slot if they were unable to write in the first session.
- In addition to this, if any learner has missed the communication or written the incorrect paper they were eligible for an excusal.
Support Coaches are available to guardians and learners through Guardian Engagement calls which can be booked using the Portal. In peak periods such as Cycle Tests and Exams, these calls will be limited to ensure that learners are getting the required support that they need in order to access their papers.
We understand the unnecessary stress this may have placed on your learner. We will be actioning an excusal for your learner to ensure that this technical error does not negatively impact their academic results.
