Innovative online high school
I would like to take this opportunity to write a review on our experience at UCT online High School this year. I enrolled both my girls for 2022. Grade 8&9. There were obvious teething issues, being their first year, so we had to have grace from our side as they discovered what initial concepts they had, worked and didn't work. The online platform is incredible! They have worked hard on their content, and how they present the information. There is a "teaching aspect" from UCT online high school, through the content and embedded videos within the content, as well as some live lessons from teachers. But parents need to understand that online is online and requires discipline from learners and a "hands on approach" from the parents to keep your child accountable and on pace. If I can give a shout out to the "support coach" initiative. The support coach is an immediate contact point person per grade for any queries, issues, feedback thoughts, concerns etc. This avenue for communication was SOOO helpful.Some children will thrive in this type on environment, and some kids will struggle. My suggestion is to keep checking in with your child to make sure they are coping!!!!!

It is important for parents to know that however much support we may give their child in the curriculum, at the end of the day they also have to take responsibility and discipline for their studies. From next year, we are introducing a range of enhancements for learners who find studying online challenging, which we are confident will assist them to keep up to pace in moving through the school year. We have learned a great deal in our first year and are very excited for the improvements we have in-store for 2023 and beyond!
