TAH Bellville horrible experience

The experience I had at TAH Bellville has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It seems as though no one actually really cares about your pet. I was under the impression that I would feel comfortable having my 9 months old English Bulldog in the best care, until TAH Bellville left me with mixed emotions after my experience. I took my pup to the TAH closest to my work which was in Parow for cherry eye tuck, made the appointment and on my arrival, I was told that they don’t do the procedure on my breed of dog and recommended that I should go to TAH Bellville. TAH Parow made an appointment with a specific doctor at TAH Bellville for the procedure whilst I was at their office. I then phoned TAH Bellville to change the date of my appointment because it clashed with my schedule. I then took my pup to TAH Bellville on the date of the appointment and was advised that another doctor would be doing the procedure. That did not deter me as I was sure my pup would be with someone who has done this type of surgery before. I booked my dog in and left him there for the day. I was notified that my dog was ready to be collected and went to fetch him straight away. Whilst there the nurse explained that my dog had picked up a bit of diarrhea possibly as a result of the anesthetic and stress. She suggested that I should buy the Hills products which is meant to stabilize his stomach. After surgery my dog was released with a cone which I am aware that this is a precautionary measure. This all happened on the 31 st October 2023. My dog never ate the food though his diarrhea stopped the next day. Three (3) days later, Friday, 3 rd November I needed to take my dog for a follow-up which everyone was happy with the outcome of the surgery not knowing there’s a bigger problem happening. Saturday morning I noticed that my dog didn’t eat and wasn’t himself at work. I then investigated a wet smell and noticed that the cone TAH Bellville had put around his neck had penetrated right through his skin because it was so tight. I called TAH Bellville and rushed him immediately to TAH Bellville. On arrival I had to wait bearing in mind that I called and explained the situation my dog was enduring. The person who attended to my dog shaved his hair all along the area where the cone and rope penetrated through and made abrasions on his skin. He cleaned the area and my dog left TAH Bellville with another cone placed on the area where the skin abrasions were evident. This clearly didn’t help because now it would just cut through the existing wound. I was liable to pay for all that (bear in mind the initial reason I took my dog to TAH Bellville) and who created this problem. The follow-up which was today (6 November 2023) cost me once again a fee for TAH Bellville to attend to the situation that had arisen around my dog’s neck. Whilst at the doctor I noticed that the gland from the initial surgery has popped out of its pocket again and the doctor said it’s only the swelling, but I can see clearly that it is the same reason I took my dog for the surgery in the first place! Now I am stuck with the same problem if not worse and because I want my dog in his best state, I basically had to pay for an unsuccessful surgery and someone else’s negligence and because I want to ensure that my dog’s eye gets attended to and probably be billed again to rectify another oversight. Is the above considered fair and moral practice toward pets/animals? Something clearly isn’t right in the manner in which a pet is treated from people whose sole role is to help and treat pets/animal. Imagine the trauma my dog endured let alone the guilt I feel and all I wanted is for my dog to see clearly and the surgery to have yielded positive results. Now my dog has to go through this trauma yet again.
