Never going back to Sonstraal TAH

After 14 years we had to lay down my baby Zet.

Dr McDonald assisted us when we took her in on Saturday morning 7 September 2019 and he didnt look very interested to hear what was wrong with Zet. I told him that it looks like Zet is struggling to poo because she squats around in the garden and he said that she could have a bladder infection. He examined her briefly and gave her an anti-inflammatory injection and put broadline on her neck for deworming and ticks. I then took her home and I thanked God that nothing else was wrong with her even taking in account that she's not that young anymore.

Sunday evening we had to rush Zet into TAH Bellville Emergencies because the whole day Zet was so weak, didnt eat or drink water and when we went out and got back home, Zet was throwing up and her back legs was stiff.

She stayed in hospital untill Tuesday 10 September where we got the call to came say goodbye to her as she was a very ill cat and was a diabetic.

If Dr McDonald was careful enough and wanted to actually help he would have said lets book her in and do the urinary test (cause thats the only way to know for sure if an animal has a bladder infection) and then he would have picked up that the problem was bigger than just an infection and we wouldn't have had to sit and "wait" to see if she will get better.

Not happy with service at all. If you are a Vet you must surely understand the love for animals and have the heart and passion.

Dr McDonald phoned me after my complaint to Merlin Sheldon (Client Liason) and explained to me that there wasnt very much he could do at that stage cause Zet didnt show any signs of fever neither did she vomit on her first visit but two days later and a bill of R 7800 we had to put her down!

The whole TAH experience was difficult even with Zet at Bellville TAH we had to phone in all the time to get updates even though TAH promised to keep us updated with the tests on Zet.

I think they have lost their touch...:(

Hi Marga. Our apologies for the experience you had at our Sonstraal branch. We have been in contact with you and I believe the matter has been settled. Regards. TAH
