Disappointing Warranty Experience and Lack of Disclosure: A Cautionary Tale with DreamwareTech and TVR Computers

Around two years ago, I purchased an MSI Z390 motherboard from DreamwareTech. Recently, I've encountered issues where the motherboard fails to boot or post when fan headers are connected to it. Since the product was still under warranty, I sent it in for inspection, and they assured me it was functioning perfectly. However, I was advised to purchase new fans, which cost me approximately R1500. Upon receiving the fans, I connected them to the motherboard, but they still didn't work. Frustrated, I returned the fans to DreamwareTech, believing my motherboard was at fault, only to be told that the fans were working fine. In an effort to resolve the issue, I went the extra mile and purchased a fan hub controller.

Around two months later, after not using the computer much due to work commitments, I turned it on only to find that it failed to boot once again. I sent the motherboard back to DreamwareTech for inspection, and they informed me that they discovered significant corrosion, burn damage, and scratches on the motherboard. I expressed my bewilderment about the corrosion, as they had previously claimed the motherboard was in perfect working condition. Their response was that they had indeed found corrosion during the initial inspection but chose not to disclose it because "everything was working fine." This failure to provide full disclosure, especially when they stated that the motherboard was fully functional, is highly disappointing.

After exchanging numerous emails with TVR, they insisted they were not at fault and that the warranty was voided due to the corrosion. However, had they informed me about the corrosion earlier, appropriate measures could have been taken to prevent further damage. Their proposed solution was to offer me a remanufactured motherboard one generation higher, but at an additional cost, demonstrating a lack of concern and failure to uphold their customer support priorities.

Based on my experience, I strongly advise against ordering from DreamwareTech or their supplier, TVR Computers. They display an unwillingness to take responsibility for their products and instead suggest spending more money to rectify the situation. Dealing with a damaged product and an expiring warranty can be an incredibly frustrating ordeal, and they offer little assistance or resolution.
