Turkish airlines customer service

This is my story

Dec 2016 my partner and I purchased tickets with Turkish airlines to visit my family in South Africa . Ive lived in the uk for 7 years and haven't seen my mom for 3 years . Our flights were scheduled for 25 March 2017 . Towards the end of February I was diagnosed with cancer and instructed by the doctors to cancel our flights as they weren't sure of the extent and duration of treatment I would need or how severe the cancer . In shock and numb we did as instructed and cancelled the flights . Doctors couldn't say then wen I would be fit to travel again .

Its now june , I've had surgery and am well on the road of recovery , unfortunately Turkish airlines have refused to Inspite of my medical grounds and signed stamped and dated doctors letters to refund me ( apart from a tax refund of £75) I've lost £540 there has been. No goodwill gesture of a free ticket or discounted ticket . I am at a loss of what to do , where to go from here . I have appealed to them about 10 times through their official complaints procedure and provided my supporting documentation to no avail .

For an airline who has been voted European airline of the year 6 years running to respond to a customer In such a way I cannot understand . We cancelled our tickets 3 weeks before the flight they could have resold them . Many flights have empty seats , all im asking for is a seat . A gesture of compassion and goodwill a opportunity for Turkish airlines to show what sets them apart and makes them worthy of the European title of airline of the year for the last 6 years running .

honestly I am amiss to know what to do now . I cannot afford to buy another ticket I also know for certain with the poor customer service and lack of goodwill or compassion I will never travel Turkish airlines again
