Holiday disrupted due to poor luggage handling

I have had the worst experience with this airline! We were flying from Dublin to Cape Town with a connecting flight in Istanbul. On the new plane we had to wait for an hour while "cargo was being offloaded" because the plane was too full. On arrival in Cape Town only we realised that the offloaded cargo meant our luggage. We spent three days of our eight day holiday without any essentials, and without any contract from the airline. We had to buy essentials to continue the trip we had planned. Trying to claim this back took hours if my time, and only several days later Turkish airlines responded. After they assessed our claim they are offering less than half of the cost for the essentials we needed. The flight was clearly overbooked, and even though we stayed well within our luggage allowance, our holiday was severely disrupted by scurrying around to try and fly shopping in with our planned schedule. Turkish airlines are making money by overloading planes, and then inconveniencing passengers by 1) tedious claim process 2) slow response time 3) poor compensation for losses incurred
