COMPLAINT IGNORED - WORST FLIGHT EVER
We flew Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Durban on 4th Dec on flight no.TK0042 . My wife and I are senior citizens and In a lifetime of air travel this was our worst experience ever . 1 . Boarding . The necessary wheelchair assistance we had arranged was a shambles . We were eventually boarded and had to find our way to seats 34A and 34B at the far rear . 2 . Comfort . Our seats and backrests were poorly padded , hard and with minimum legroom ( I am 6ft tall and my knees were 3cm from the back of the seat in front of me . ) The rows were so close that climbing into the aisle was difficult. Your very comfortable executive deserve to be cramped up for 10 hours like this to enjoy their sacrifice of quality for fat extra profit . 3 . Maintenance . The pouches on the back of the seats ahead were broken and unserviceable , stowed items fell thru onto the floor . The overhead seatbelt warning lights only worked occasionally . These failures are a symptom of careless attention and that is not a good sign in an aircraft . These examples of failing standards are a poor reversal of what used to be a pleasant and even exciting journey by air . Perhaps IATA should set minimum standards for this industry .
