Day Light *******!!! over charging vulnerable clients

It was most unfortunate that we experienced 2 vehicle breakdowns in the month of August. We were referred and took our Nissan Hardbody to Turf Auto Services, after a month of our car laying there due to "scarce availability of parts" we were slapped with a hefty bill of R36532.02 for remove engine, repair and fit. (we paid that as we needed the car back and my parents are not English speaking.

We also took our Honda Civic to Turf Auto the same week, we had to pay a deposit of R10000 for strip and quote. Fernando ( the owner) gave us an initial quotation of R120 000 for a car valued at R60 000. Madness!!! After our protest he offered another quotation to replace the engine for R53000...we said we could not afford the repairs and didn't see the justification in it for a car worth R60 000. We requested for the car back, over the next 2 months we did numerous follow ups and calls and were always told that Fernando is not available and that he is busy. Fernando advised that he was too busy and did not have the time to put the engine back together for us to take the car away.

After over 2 months I had to contact another mechanic, arrange for a flat bed trailer and go collect the car with the engine in pieces and tow it to the other workshop. Three weeks later after numerous frustrated calls to follow up I eventually received a refund of R1849 from the R10 000 deposit for "Strip and quote" and Turf Auto still didn't put the engine back together. Fernando charged an insane 13 hours at R550 per hour for labour to strip and quote. His rates are higher than BMW ARC rates...

Needless to say the other mechanic managed to assess the damages to our car and gave us a quotation for the repairs the following day and for a fraction of the price. Our car was repaired in slightly over a week and with a 6 months guarantee.

Turf Auto (Fernando) is pure Day light ******* and just ripping a very vulnerable client off.... clients that paid him his absorbent fees with their hard earned and long time savings cash with no hassles.
