HI, This is the Turbo Tech situated in Killarney Plaza, Killarney Ave, Milnerton. Short story: Great people, promising you the world at a price that you can afford and then stole R6000 worth of suspension bushes and left me with a half-fixed vehicle that now has a motor that can't go above 2800rpm. Long story: Isn't just sad how service has gotten so bad that one must go from shop to shop as the first one stuffed it up. After having my vehicle's turbo repaired by a Brackenfell Service Centre, exhaust noise was comming from the engine bay near the turbo. I was told Turbo Tech is the place I should go to have it fixed correctly. So off I went. Great people, promising you the world at a price that you can afford. They quoted to repair the exhaust leak and also offered to install the suspension bushes I did not have the tools for to install myself. This I all accepted and they continued. Two days passed and I was contacted and told the air leak was not from the exhaust but from the turbo. The message was accompanied with a photo of the turbo compressor casing split in half!?!?! The owner, chief, the MR BIG, inspected, diagnosed and he pointed out the noise was coming from a leak on the exhaust flange. Now suddenly the turbo casing is split in half. WTH! If that was true, the car wouldn’t be driving fine with the boost. This being my everyday car to get to and from work, I had no alternative, with my hands my hair had to accept their sourced turbo. And then it got even better. The unit sourced was a truck turbo. It fits, almost. It’s just the air intake needs to be made bigger and guess what, there is no space to do this alteration. So, they just shoved the old one in and sealed it with silicone, claiming they will come up with an sollution later and contact me! It Now 6 month later and still nothing. The result of it all is: 1. The air-to-fuel mixture is now all wrong and unfortunately Turbo Tech does not have the capability to remap the ECU. 2. The air intake pipe that is supposed to be clamped to the outside of the turbo inlet is on the inside, with a 10mm clearance, thus the pipe diameter is 25mm+ to small. 3. With the 2 issues above, the motor is starved of air and can't rev higher than 2800 rpm causing the turbo cuts out and stall the motor. 4. On a cold morning the motor must idle a bit to warm it, other wise it causes the turbo not getting enough oil and make a very high pitched windup at only 2000rpm. 5. The quoted price ended 5 times higher. 6. Only the packaging of suspension bushes was left in the back of my vehicle and I assumed it was installed, at least a ray of sunlight on the situation. I assumed wrong. None was installed. That's 8 imported Super-Pro poly-suspension bushes, gone.
They probably were good at some stage, now I would avoid them. I again must source a service centre to repair another stuff-up. Will it ever end?
