TUPA OVERCHARGING TENANTS
I was at Tenant at 1 of the Tupa Buildings as from December of 2012 till June 2015. I have been paying the rent on time since, however the electricity was ridiculously high, I have complained several times, I was paying +-1800 for electricity alone, they promised to fix my meter of which they never did, I wrote an email to the CEO whom she promised to come back to me and also she never did.
Month end of May I got a letter that they are going to increase my monthly rental as from the 01st of July from R2600.00 to R3900.00 because they are going to paint the doors and buglers, I Immediately served a notice because the rent was going to be too much. They refused to accept my notice because they wanted me to serve 2 months notice, however I felt that was unfair because they also didn't give me 2 months notice that they are going to double the rent.
I waited for them to get back to me as how we gonna resolve the matter because I informed them that I will be moving out of the flat on the 30th of June regardless of whether the notice was accepted of not. and now I got an sms and the email that they have blacklisted me for R31000.00 which I don't understand what is this amount for.
