Poor Communication and Failure to Complete the Project
We appointed Thys Seymour, owner of TTC Projects, to construct a steel patio at our home. The agreed scope included the steel structure, IBR roof sheeting, gutters and downpipes, concrete floor, built-in braai, side wall, balustrade, staircase, ceiling, lights and electrical plugs. The agreed completion period was three weeks, and we paid him as agreed. Initially, Thys was cooperative, accommodating and professional, and the work was being completed to a good standard. Unfortunately, after the first couple of weeks, the situation changed significantly. Thys increasingly failed to arrive on site as agreed and communication became a major problem. We were given various excuses, including a broken bakkie and problems at other sites. On many occasions, there was simply no communication at all regarding why he was not coming to site. There were also occasions where he told us he was on his way, only for him never to arrive. The quality of the work also started deteriorating. The last day Thys was on site was 28 August 2026. Since then, we have experienced repeated excuses, unanswered messages and calls, and promises that he would return to complete the project that were not kept. We are now approaching two months since the project started, despite the original three-week completion agreement. At this point, we have lost confidence that TTC Projects will complete the work within any reasonable timeframe. This has been an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. While the project started well, the subsequent lack of reliability, communication and adherence to the agreed completion date has been unacceptable. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Thys Seymour or TTC Projects to anyone looking for a reliable contractor who will complete a project on time and to the agreed standard.
