Security staff at Tshwane District Clinic rude and unhelpful.

I had to assist someone this morning at Tshwane District Clinic- I have never in my life seen poor, sick people treated so badly and with so little respect. No empathy for their pain and desperation. It is shocking - I think management should try and see what happens in line, when people don't see you or care because you are poor. The security staff we encountered at the entrance were rude and unhelpful. We never made it to the doctor or any of the tests - the person that was there for treatment was 15 and for cancer tests - how on earth can a 15 year old - with this worry and trauma - be expected to handle themselves at such a big institution? The process for the tests is very daunting and via numerous hospital departments. Just the mental trauma is extreme, even for an adult. It is really so sad that poor, sick people are actually just nothing. Even the old and frail (and a little boy of about 3 years old) were ignored or shouted at. And then the comments made by a top official a few months ago about the patients (at Steve Biko Hospital, where it is the same situation) being at fault - sitting there (in winter!!!) because they want to picnic and socialize - is just so much worse. It is actually sick. Management should be ashamed of themselves. I take my hat of to the nursing staff and doctors willing to work under these type of circumstances.
