In 2013, I established a medical practice after acquiring it from a fellow doctor, thereby assuming responsibility for the Telkom account associated with the business. Seeking to reduce costs, I made the decision to switch from Telkom to a different service provider in 2015. To my surprise, in 2017, I received a substantial bill amounting to R6000 from Trudon, alleging an outstanding subscription fee for a period spanning 24 months. Importantly, I have not entered into any contractual agreements nor have I received any invoices or notifications pertaining to Trudon's services. In an attempt to address this matter, I reached out to my new service provider, who corroborated my claims by providing a recorded conversation between a Trudon agent and my receptionist. Although the agent requested confirmation of our address and details, the receptionist's response, given her lack of fami****ity with Trudon, was not intended as consent. Throughout the two-year duration, I was not afforded the opportunity to cancel the subscription or obtain any clarification regarding the situation. Astonishingly, Trudon recently issued a notice of judgment to my husband, despite his complete detachment from the business. As a small business owner, I find myself deeply disheartened by the unfortunate circumstances in which an ostensibly larger entity like Trudon has taken advantage of my vulnerability, particularly amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, persistent power outages, and a lingering recession. Moreover, it is pertinent to note that a similar *****ulent scheme was perpetrated by a company called White Pages in 2018, revealing a disconcerting pattern of deceptive practices employed by these enterprises. In light of the aforementioned grievances, I earnestly seek assistance in effectively conveying my concerns and rectifying this manifestly inequitable situation.
