Violation of the CPA

On Saturday the 13th June 2015, I purchased a 10 watt blue fluorescent aquarium light from Tropicum Petshop N1 City for my grandmother and installed it, as I have done many times over. During the week that followed it flickered slightly and by Sunday the 21st June 2015, it had died completely.

On the 24th June I had a gap to return it for an exchange. Upon requesting such, I was told they will not exchange the light because they don't guarantee glass? I argued that a, according to the cpa any item that is faulty within 21 days of purchase must be replaced by the supplier and b, the till slip says absolutely nothing about the fact that any item they sell is not guaranteed. I was told that I should contact their supplier and sort it out which I further argued that I did not purchase from their supplier but from them.

Furthermore, I was refused the owners contact details and mine were taken instead. I have not received a call. I realized I was dealing with someone who was uninterested and had no understanding of customer service or the cpa. I left with the details of their supplier in hand and a FAULTY fluorescent light .

I will file a complaint with the NCCC soon.
