Getting Married? All about the money

My kids booked a wedding more than a year in advance at Tres Jolie for 25 November 2016. In December they took a life decision to work abroad for a few years, thus not being around to get married. They tried to contact Tres Jolie without luck as they were closed for the festive season.<br> <br> In January they formally cancelled the venue. They were told that in accordance with Tres Jolie cancellation policy they would forfeit the R2000 deposit to reserve the date and unless the date is 'resold' also the additional R13200 already paid by end November 2014. If resold the R13200 will be refunded, except for a 15% admin fee. This all checks out.<br> <br> My point - these are extremely one sided terms, diverting all risk to the consumer, despite the fact that this was done almost a year in advance. The service provider has done nothing, except receive a few payments and in return, they stand to make at least R3980 for doing so - at the expense of two young people setting up their lifes.<br> <br> Why is it that everyone in the wedding industry has only one thing in mind - make as much money as quickly as possible!!!!
