Treehouse River Lodge, Shongweni.

A group of my friends and I booked the Treehouse River Lodge to spend some time away from the usual in a serene environment. Though the location of the lodge is suitable for that, the service is not conducive to serenity. Apart from the ever helpful and kind cleaning lady, the same cannot be said for the hosts and the place in general. The roof was leaking, the toilet facilities were not maintained up to par, the scent of the rooms is not at all pleasing, the doors aren't maintained properly and you struggle with closing them, the fridges and kitchen appliances aren't as clean as you'd hope for and the bedding did not smell too good either.

Overall, the stay was bearable but because of the treatment by the hosts, it meant that we could not enjoy it. We were hurried into checking out even after we asked for a checkout extension to which the hosts agreed to, but then went back on their word and couldn't even inform us by themselves but rather opted to request that the site we did the booking through, be the one to inform us. Instead of addressing the grievances they may have had with us, she took it directly to the site we booked from and they were the ones who would communicate with us about our stay instead of the hosts. Their customer/client service was simply not good enough, if not horrible.

This is not a place I'd recommend to anyone looking for a getaway trip away from the normal.
