I’m sharing this to warn other parents and travellers after the shocking handling of our recent booking.

On 14 November 2025, we booked flights through Travel Wings for four children (ages 10, 11, 13 and 15) for travel on 3 December 2025. We were told that children under 12 required an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) form which must be completed on the FlySafair website. Based on this, we paid R940 per ticket and were ready to pay the UM fee as well.

However, after searching the FlySafair website, we discovered there is no longer a UM form available. When we contacted FlySafair directly, they confirmed that their policy has changed, and UM assistance can only be added at the time of booking through FlySafair’s own website — completely contradicting what Travel Wings told us.

This misinformation now means we’ve been told our only option is: • Cancel the tickets for the 10- and 11-year-old (R300 fee per ticket) • Rebook at the new, higher fare of ~R1 770 per ticket • THEN pay the UM fee of R750 per child

This amounts to an unnecessary loss of ± R1 660 — all because Travel Wings provided outdated information and FlySafair did not make their policy clear or accessible.

He has been in contact with me you're correct. What you don't understand is that by doing the way you tell me to do it now, I'll end up paying double the price for the tickets alone. Yes that's R1660 more than what I would've paid if not for your mess.

Irene O'Kelly Hi Irene, we’re really sorry for the confusion you experienced with your booking. As the booking was made through Travel Wings, we’re unfortunately limited in how much we can assist. Our Unaccompanied Minor process is clearly outlined on our website, however it seems the agency may not have app**** the correct policy in this case, which is regrettable.
