Don't ever use Travel and Sport
I paid a deposit for a trip in 2019, but due to Covid, the trip was postponed. I was given the option to cancel or postpone, and I opted to postpone. Again this year, I was given the same option. I opted to cancel and I was led to believe I would only forfeit the deposit of R4 000. They are now offering me a travel voucher for the balance they owe me of R16 000, valid for 2 years, after which they will refund me. I have explained I will not be traveling in the foreseeable future, due to events out of my control. They refuse to refund me, as it seems the want to continue earning interest on my money, even though they have been doing so for the last 2 years. Don't ever book a trip through travel and sport! They are dishonest and are ripping people off! I am a single mother of 2, and have felt the effects of the pandemic, which I have explained to them yet the insist I will receive a travel voucher which sadly, will not feed my children. Sad & shocking service
Thank you for your feedback. We understand your frustration in this regard.
As you mentioned in your post, the group was given the option to cancel or postpone the tour originally scheduled for departure in September 2020. For groups that signed up for travel pre-covid we included travel insurance. Parents who chose to cancel during 2020 for the original tour were able to claim from travel insurance. You chose to postpone. The policy was then terminated due to the tour dates changing. The nature of travel insurance cover has changed since the pandemic started, and therefore a claim is unfortunately not possible for the 2021 tour. We have therefore taken the industry standard approach of issuing travel vouchers to compensate our clients who have chosen to cancel. We have tried to be as flexible as possible with our voucher conditions. We have included the option to receive a cash pay out of the voucher value after 24 months, of either the entire voucher value or for the remaining value if only used partially. We are pleased to give positive feedback with regards to many of our clients successfully redeeming their vouchers.
Kind Regards
