************. Do not be conned!

I joined Travelquest in December 2012 after a promotional meeting in Pietermaritzburg. Travelquest is an online travel company which supposedly provides up to 70% discounted accomodation and flight packages to their members. They claim to be able to make these offers available using the collective buying power of their members. At that time both of my children were working overseas and I thought that by becoming a member, it would provide an affordable opportunity to visit them. When I contacted Travelquest for quotes for flights for myself and accomodation options in Cambodia and Thailand, their quotes were not competitive and I ended up sourcing my own flights and accomodation on the internet. I tried again at a later stage , looking for accomodation in Colesburg. Once again I found cheaper accomodation on my own. By this time I was thoroughly disenchanted by their failure to live up to their promises. I wrote an email to the Client Services Manager expresssing my frustration and disappointment. My email was never acknowledged or rep**** to. I then phoned the company and asked for the Manager's telephone number. He referred me to another lady, who I explained the situation to and asked for my money back. (I had paid R14 000 in membership fees). She told me that this was not possible and that only my yearly levies could be frozen until I changed my mind!!!

Eventually I managed to arranged a meeting with the Client Services Manager. He agreed with me that I had reason to be disenchanted and that he would refund me my money in full. This has never been done and since then he has avoided all my calls. After that I contacted ASATA and Vacation Ownership Assoc of SA but neither has Travelquest registered with them. I know understand why - so there is no accountability.

I doubt Travelquest will ever respond to this. I am still angry that I have been ****** of my money but am putting this up as a warning to potential buyers so that they too will not be **********. This has been a very bitter pill to swallow.

Good day Sharon, you mention that we breached our contract with you,but according to our records, yes you did sign up in 2012 to be exact the 12 December and used your membership in 2013, where you made a booking with us on the 6 March 2013 . Firstly we do not offer any discounted rates on flights, as per your agreement that you have initialled and signed, so that there was no confusing on this matter and it is our understanding that you understood this. As per page 4 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF FAIR MARKETING, you acknowledge that the amount of discount is not a fixed amount but can vary up to 60% and on occasion even higher. We have honoured our agreement with you as per the contract that you signed with us, by given discount on accommodation , that is the reason why you did your booking with us on the 6 March 2013.It has taken another 4 years to complain,
I would recommend that you read through your contract again to understand the terms and conditions of membership and that the fact the only breach of contract is that you stopped your annual renewal fee without notice, and that everything that is in the contract was honoured, which we have done.
With regards to contacting VACATION OWNERSHIP ASSOC OF SA (VOASA) you are correct we are not registered with them as we are not a timeshare or points company. We do not own any timeshare or points and therefore Leisure Travel(Travel Quest) is not affiliated with VOASA
As you were so sure of yourself that Travel Quest would not respond to this email or to fact that you want to send a warning to others of not been ********** how sure are you of your facts that you have stated , that we have breeched the contract and not honoured what we guaranteed to you in writing when you have had a holiday booked through us using your membership, and according to our records you have not sent another request through. As you also mentioned that when you spoke to the client service manager at the time, it would of been requested from you to please send the quotes that you received from us and what you received so that we can compare apples with apples. However as we are a reputable company I have also sent a private email to your email address in order for me to assist you with anything further as it is recorded in our contract to promote our company and product fairly without any misunderstandings and to make the benefits as clear as possible.
