Transunions, suk' emabhozeni - 'Don't you dare mess with this guys'
Here's the thing... I pay off a debt and call Transunion to make them aware since they had me blacklisted. The consultant says I must lodge a dispute, which I subsequently do. The consultant forewarned that it migt take up to 20 working days to investigate and resolve the query and that during this time my profile will be blocked. I accepted since I seem to have a lot of options then. A week later I get correspondence from the creditor (RCS) stating that the instruction to remove the default and updated the payment history has been sent to the credit bureaus (Transunion). I was so excited thinking that the waiting over and I immediately called Transunion to make them aware of this development in cas they missed it or something. To my surprise, I am told that the matter is still under investigation and the dispute is on day 12 so I need to give it 8 more days, which is a little under 2 weeks. I have two clarity seeking questions to Transunion. 1. When you say the matter is under investigation do really mean that or you simply give the creditor 20 days to respond and if they don't respond within this time frame you autonomously proceed with the update. 2. Is it really necessary for me (a consumer) to still wait out the remainder of the 20 days even if the creditor has responded with all the required information. And lastly if you could stop using the phrase 'the matter is still under investigation' because that is very misleading. Simply puy you can just say we are waiting for 20 workings to go by so we can proceed.
