TransUnion Ignores Evidence, Retains Erroneous C Track SA Adverse Listing

I lodged a dispute with TransUnion against C Track SA regarding an adverse listing that incorrectly reflects me as having missed a payment in September 2025.

C Track SA failed to explain how the account went into arrears and did not comply with Regulation 19(4) of the National Credit Act, which requires that consumers be given at least 20 business days’ notice before adverse information is submitted to a credit bureau. By ignoring this regulation, both TransUnion and C Track SA have failed to comply with the law.

Instead of investigating properly, TransUnion accepted a disputed account statement from C Track SA as “credible information” and retained the adverse listing on my profile. This was done despite the fact that I had already provided evidence of my communication with C Track’s Legal Department (Pieter Taute), where he claimed the arrears dated back to 2022. TransUnion accepted this contradictory statement without contacting me at any stage.

TransUnion’s dispute process offers no escalation mechanism, meaning any business can submit erroneous statements that are simply accepted without further investigation. This makes their dispute system ineffective and unfair to consumers. A sham.

C Track SA has been unable to explain how my account suddenly went into arrears in September 2025, despite me consistently making the same payment amount for the past 12 months.

Their legal controller, Pieter Taute, has provided conflicting information, and the Legal Department has underhandedly submitted the same disputed statement to TransUnion, despite being unable to justify the figures or explain the arrears.

This conduct by C Track SA is ********* and unacceptable, and it highlights how they exploit the weaknesses in TransUnion’s dispute process to prevent customers from enforcing their rights under the NCA.

I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the conduct of both TransUnion and C Track SA.

No response received from Transunion. They work together with corporates to undermine consumers and make it difficult for consumers to get recourse. Their modus operandi is to accept the feedback of the credit provider and ignore the evidence of the consumer. Until our government and the National Credit Regulator issues harsh penalties against these credit bureaus, consumer rights will continue to be stepped on by the entities like Transunion, Experian etc.

I was contacted by Transunion in December 2025 but this week (January 2026) I have received a dispute correspondence once again finding in favour of C Track SA (Pty) Ltd who have provided questionable information to Transunion. Clearly no proper, investigation is done by Transunion and the merely accept the evidence of the company with no way for the consumer to challenge this information. The only way to contact Transunion is via telephone. If you do not have money for airtime or a smartphone, there is no way to contact Transunion.

Transunion's conduct is questionable, they refer consumers to the National Credit Ombudsman after accepting only the side of the company who has negatively listed the consumer, knowing fully well the office of the NC Ombudsman has collapsed in terms of its ability to investigate consumer NCA complaints. Once again, companies exploit the weaknesses in TransUnion’s dispute process to prevent customers from enforcing their rights under the NCA
