Credit score drops

Morning, Ive always kept a eye on my credit report and score because a number of year ago I was badly in debt and have worked extra hard to get out of that hole. Of late my score has been steadily declining even though the only change was a top loan through Direct Axis after I was the unfortunate victim of a **** that almost cleared my banking account. this morning I log on only to find I've lost over 15 points for no appaent reason.. You score system baffles me. I've worked really hard to get my score steady but of late because of matter beyond my control my score just keeps dropping. Please help me understand what this is about
