No Train to nowhere...

I need to get about 200kg's of blacksmithing tools down to Cape Town from Joburg.

After sending out a bunch of quote requests to various removal companies, all of whom rep**** to me within 24hrs, I suddenly thought TRAIN... surely that'll be cheaper? Phoned the number in the directory ( ********** ) and was told to call ********** , which rings once then goes to engaged; phoned the original number again, was told sorry - nothing we can do; insisted (minor rant - you are a huge organisation there must be someone who can help me etc) and was told to phone ********** - same one-ring-engaged vibe; went online to the Transnet site, then called the Joburg number listed there; very bored lady told me to phone 0 ********** , the Shosholoza number, which rings (yay) but then goes to engaged (boo).

Against the backdrop of daily rail commuters losing their jobs for constantly being late for work, due to the inefficiency of the train system, I know that my gripe about no-one wanting to talk to me about getting a few miserable lumps of metal across the country is pretty trivial. But I suppose this just goes to show that the rot runs all the way through.
