They make use of a platform called Searchworks which is directly linked to the deeds office. Having your id no they are able to access the following information; * Your current and previous addresses * Your current and previous employers * Your Title deeds and bond info * Your spouse's details In terms of the POPIA act you are supposed to give written consent for them to access this info.
