Traffic department. Randfontein
After having made an online appointment at the Randfontein Traffic department for 01/06/2022 i went to get my motor vehicle licence renewed. Nowhere online does it state that a person can only pay by card and not make a cash payment. Apart from this inconvenience NOBODY at this department gives you ANY indication as where you have to wait in line or which queque is for which ransaction. People mull around in a discombobulated confusion. There were even one or two people that i saw that hadnt made an appointment at all and get " favours" done by certain of the staff members. I finished my exam (eye test etc.) and was then reffered to a counter to pay my R228.00 for my licence renewal. There was no explanation why this counter was closed. I saw notices everywhere at the tellers that only card payments could be made. I went to a lady working at teller 4 at 10h00 today 1/6/22 and asked her what to do. Although she was busy it would have taken her a few seconds to explain to me what to do, instead she ignored me completely. After another hour in the queque i got to the front and she informed me of the non cash policy and sent me to another queque ( teller 1). While i stood in the queque a very friendly young lady behind me offered to pay my fee of R228 with her card, i gave her the cash and she swiped her card for me. Saved my day, wonderful helping attitude. I can understand that the department does not want to take cash because of ******ies, bribes and who knows what else. I do have a card but my money only gets paid in on the 2/6/22. Therefore i kept cash from the previous month. Why cant the Traffic department state online that they do not accept cash? This will save the general public a lot of annoyance, but they do state on notices inside that if you dont pay the same day, that you will have to rebook your appointment. This entity operates like a Neo/ **** department that limits and controls freedom of what the public can or cannot do, and they are VERY unfriendly. It is also not as if they are extremely busy, as they limit the amount of appointment. An absolute disgrace of a public entity that does not care about the public, as long as they are getting their salaries at the end of the month. This is only the publics perception, and i do not know if they face challenges that the pubic is not aware of. But dedinitely a third world experience.
