DEREGISTERING OF VEHICLE - NOT EVERYONE IS AWARE

<p>I went to the traffic department yesterday to register a vehicle and change ownership to my name, after sorting everything out, they refused to issue me my licence disc saying there is another car unlicenced, unregistered under my id number and i requested to print out the details of this car. back in 2012 i had a near death accident where jaws of life were used to extract me and my formermer colleague and we were airlifted to Unitas hospital in Centurion. Now that is the car unlicensed and unregistered still under my name. They Printed out a bill of R6800 saying that is how much i must pay for them to deregister the car from the system. After my accident in 2012 where the car was written off, i never knew i had to go to the traffic department to deregister the car and yesterday was the first i was hearing such. Now they withheld my license disc saying i must pay that money, they deregister the old car before they can release the license disc for this car i am using and my current disc has expired and i have no other means of moving around. I am disputing the R6800 i was told to pay before my disc can be released</p>
