Plus minus two weeks back my private vehicle, which is being used as a company vehicle for my husband's business, was ******/*******ly impounded by an ******** person/s - entity.
This person requested a rather large amount be paid to him as well as a letter from the company stating that the vehicle was in fact being used not as a taxi but rather as a transport vehicle for staff and we were informed we would only see our car again once aforementioned was done and the conversation was not an amicable one.
When we reported the matter to tracker and noted that the car had been ******/ *******ly impounded, we were informed that Tracker could not get involved as this was a quote/unquote "civil matter" and would need a case number even before activating the tracking unit or any recovery team deployed.
Noting that this is not relayed to you as a paying customer, ie should your car be impounded *******ly you need to get a case number before the unit is activated or you would have to negotiate with the person/persons - entity to return your car to yourself and you may or may not have to pay the fine to these persons that have impounded your car.
We in fact did go to officials to get a case number however these officials stated that they could not assist immediately and we would have to wait. The driver of the vehicle was then moved from one end of the station to the next.
We were fortunate enough to be in contact with a private company who drove the 45min/1 hour drive to where our vehicle was being held and recovered our vehicle, this cost us petrol for this person, far less than the amount requested to release our vehicle, a cost nonetheless and way less than the amount paid to tracker every month.
Today ***0 after a very heated argument with a tracker employee, where I was so angry that I used the foulest language, I was again told that in a case of this nature a case number is required before Tracker will get involved.
So in other words if your vehicle is ******/imounded, possibly in the middle of nowhere, by this entity don't phone tracker, try walk or get a lift to the nearest police station to get a case number first and then phone tracker.
We ensure our payments to Tracker are always paid by means of a debit order and trust that when our vehicle is ******/*******ly impounded or otherwise, we will have the backing of Tracker to make every effort to recover our vehicle, well apparently not ... in a case like this, you are on your own!!!
