Tracker Cancelled My Contract Without Consent and Debited My New Account ********ly
Last year December, I took out a 36-month contract with Tracker. Around May this year, the vehicle that was fitted with the tracking device changed ownership.
Tracker claims that when the dealership contacted them about the ownership change, they cancelled my contract because they “could not reach me.” However, the SMS they sent already confirmed the cancellation, meaning the decision had been made without my consent.
Recently, I reached out hoping to reinstate the cancelled contract as Tracker hadn't stopped with attempting to debit for the cancelled contract, but was told it would have to be a new account. I went ahead with the new installation after confirming all details. To my shock, Tracker then debited a cancellation fee for the old account from my new banking details, causing my debit order to spike by over 2000% of the agreed amount.
I met in person with Thozama Bopha from Tracker’s customer service department, who insisted that Tracker has the right to debit any other banking details I provide and to cancel contracts when clients cannot be reached — even though none of this is stated in the signed agreement.
To make matters worse, Thozama went on to divert my new account to the old bank account without my consent, claiming Tracker has the right to do so. This raises serious questions about consumer rights, consent, and data privacy, especially from a company that is a registered Financial Services Provider (FSP).
