Tracker App for recover. What a disgrace and poorly developed app
I recently took out a new contract with Tracker with an option of "Recover". I read a number of reviews and most were really bad about the Tracker App. I though I will try it, but to my utter disgust I realize the reviews is just and true.
I could not do anything with the app unless I give Tracker full access to take videos, pictures, make calls from my device and have access to my pictures and gallery. Obviously I deny, and Tracker refuse me the right to use the app, unless they have control over my mobile device.
I then read through the reviews again and there a re a number of other complaints referring to the same point I made. The feedback from Tracker is totally the opposite as what they want to do with the app.
All answer Tracker provide is - Call the tracker office, or send e-mail to blah-blah-blah.
I called the office and the poor bloke at the call centre had a hard time explaining to me why Tracker want to this.

The fact that they insist to have access to my gallery and pictures and to use my video and camera on my phone is worry some. Tracker reason is "for incase you need to send a picture to Tracker". (sic) Again, if I do not allow Tracker access to these functions Tracker immediately stop the Tracker app to work.
I have been misled by Tracker in that it would have been possible for me to track and recover my vehicle with the Tracker app, however, for me to get this done, Tracker want to control my mobile device via the Tracker app.
When I asked some of the Tracker representatives on why do they do not change the app, I was bluntly told "this is how the app work and it will not change" (more or less in so many words).
And then to place the cherry on top of the cake, I asked the Tracker representative to revert back to my original contract I was advised that I will have to pay a penalty of some R 1,300.00.
So the threat is, if you revert you pay a penalty, if you do not revert, then you can use a app that make it possible for Tracker to possibly take control over my mobile device, if you do use the app then you actually agree and allow Tracker to possibly take control over my mobile device.
Do we really need companies like Tracker to abuse the people that buy their products?
