They cancelled my cancellation request :)
Originally we had a vehicle which when insured with Santam, had a mandatory Tracker installed. At the time I was informed its a 2 year contract, so even if I cancel the insurance I am liable for 2 years. That was fine. That 2 year contract has expired years ago, and because Tracker supp**** me with no documentation I just thought I was done with them because I never actually paid them anything directly. Everything was part of my Santam insurance. Nevertheless, on Mar 14 this year, that vehicle was sold to WeBuyCars. After the sale I received text messages stating the Tracker is offline. I went on the Tracker website to the contact us section, gave them the vehicles registration details and told them the vehicle is sold and the tracker must be cancelled. I thought that was the end of it but I kept receiving text alerts that the Tracker is non-responsive and I rep**** on these messages that it is supposed to be cancelled. Forgot about it until today - I receive an email statement for the monthly amount I must pay. I thought I'd do the courteous thing and call them inform this cancellation was done in March already. This is where I found out, they've never cancelled it, even though they could read back my message I sent to them requesting the cancellation. They told me the cancellation process was not followed, and they tried calling me for 3 days after I requested the cancellation. So they put me through to the cancellation department, I informed her of the cancellation. She tells me that cancellation requests require a 30 calendar day notice, so it will only be cancelled end of August. I tried reasoning with her, that I cancelled in March but she strongly believed that company is correct and I am in the wrong. So the logic here is this - they are in possession of my cancellation request (March 14, 2025) and could read it back to me. They decided not to cancel because they could not get hold of me telephonically, they are in possession of any outputs of the Tracker unit and can see when last it was active, and even check the location. And yet they still feel they are right in trying to bill me for something I don't have? Keep in mind - I have no recollection of ever receiving documentation from Tracker outlining any cancellation processes, etc. Besides it was a 2 year contract, and last I checked 2 year contracts last for 24 months only, which ended years back. Why do SAn companies always try and drain every last bit of money of clients when they did not even supply service? It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, and we end of not wanting to use them again. But anyway, I want them to do the right thing and have everything removed off my name at Tracker, without any further discussion.
