Shocking service paying a settlement fee on something you don't have and never worked.

So I had a Tracker installed in both my husband and my own vehicle because we needed a logbook since we both travel for work and need a logbook for SARS. This was our ONLY reason to get a Tracker. Both Trackers was installed in March 2020.

First email was sent on 26 April to Tracker to inform them that one of the vehicles was not updating. So it was basically only working for one month.

On 13 August I requested cancellation of the Trackers, since both were not updating. Out of 150 work days only about 72 days were recorded in the logbook. At the time that would have been about 3000km on one of the vehicles which I could not claim from SARS due to the Tracker issue and we didn't keep a manual logbook since this was the reason we are paying Tracker for. By then they have already replaced a unit in one of the cars. So the first unit was faulty and had to be replaced within one month of installation.

On 14 August I received a notification from Tracker that the vehicle was not updating and I need to let them know whether the vehicle was in use or not. I responded to the email but still no one contacted me.

They refused to cancel the Tracker because they expect a settlement fee. I sold both vehicles in October and they kept billing me even after I told them I sold the vehicles and the Tracker did not work and so I stopped the debit order on my bank account.

I spoke to them again this morning. And according to them I need to allow technicians to come out and inspect the unit everytime I have issues or I have to pay the settlement fee to cancel or they will keep billing me.

So moral of the story. We need to inconvenience ourselves for Tracker to come and investigate the unit, take time off from work since we work on the road to allow for this and let them replace it for the third time and hope it works or pay the full contract fee as settlement in order to cancel something that never worked and I currently don't own.

So now I don't have any tracking device in a very expensive vehicle and would rather take the chance to pay the insurance co-payment rather than having to deal with the incompetence of another Tracking company.

A back and forth between different consultants. They can only offer me the option to transfer the unit to the people that bought the vehicles or pay settlement fee. Even though I have a list of complaints on email that the units didn't work.

Hopefully people read reviews on Tracker before installing it in their vehicles.
