Cancelled contract, handed over to debt collectors

First email was sent in May 2015 to give one month notice to cancel contract. In July I received my first response. Made several calls but contract was never cancelled. Debit order was stopped however. In August I received confirmation that the contract was cancelled but in September I received notification that I have been blacklisted and handed over to debt collectors
