Unsafe products, no support.
As many parents do we purchased a cot from Toys R Us (Bounce brand) and only started using it when the baby was born. After using the cot for 7 months the support that streches the cot at the bottom completely snapped and tipped the cot over while our baby was inside. Upon launching my complaint Toys R Us refused to acknowledge any fault and said that the item is older than 6 months which is the warranty period. I further stated that my complaint was not based on the item fading or "wear and tare" nor that this was some toy that gave my baby a cut or a bruise, it was a safety issue. Their response was that their terms and conditions are in line with the consumers act. I had asked them where in the shop this is displayed so that I, as a parent, would know that my child's safety could not be guaranteed after that time period and they once again told me they are not obligated to display it we could've asked. No one thinks to ask this we, as most other people, just assumed that the product would be safe atleast up until the weight limit. This was not nearly the case. They have not done anything to resolve this for me and they do not accept any responsibility. Just beware that when purchasing these products the safety of your child is only guaranteed for 6 months. Had my baby not been sleeping in his feeding pillow which ultimately broke his fall, he would've fallen onto the tiles or side table next to his cot. Luckily the feeding pillow was there and as the cot tipped over he slid out with the pillow. As a parent this is severely distressing, not even to mention what he as a 7 month old had to experience. To make matters worse I have had no support from Toys R Us other than them throwing their terms and conditions in my face and stating that they do not have to display the fact that the item is only safe for 6 months. Had I been aware of this I would've purchased a different cot with a longer warranty period. I shudder that the terms and conditions get thrown around in instances like this especially considering they sell stuff like car seats in the same brand.
