Toys R Us refuses reimbur*****t for losses due to their false advertising

So I bought an educational toy for my daughter. I bought it according to the specifications and details given online. In store the box said the same things. When we finally got to use it. We saw that the information provided was and is misleading and false. Up to this point of time. I’ve spent R700 on traveling alone for an educational toy that cost R329.90. R400 on traveling to and from the store the first time. Then R300 on a store that no longer exist. But still showing proudly on Google maps.

I called one of the stores to return the item. Which the lady said can check online for another store that might be closer for me to travel too. So went to Google maps and saw a store very close to me. I went to the store and to my surprise the store no longer exist. Toys R US said I should have checked their website to find out if the store is still open. My thing thing is most stores are connected to Google maps so I saw no need to check their site for directions. They should have take it down from Google by now. But it’s still on google maps.

I have provided Toys with close to the exact misleading information. I’ve even asked them to take one of those toys and check my claims. But they blatantly refuse to do that. Then said I must return the toy for a refund and they sorry about they can’t reimburse me on the losses I endured?

So Toys R Us is basically telling me is to spend another R400 to return the toy for my R329.90 refund and then **** off. Or I could be mistaken.

So for traveling alone I’ll would spend R1100 alone and a R329.90 toy. A toy that does not do as specified online nor on the box. Toys R Us can’t be serious doing me still to return it at an evens greater loss
