Toys R Us Pathetic Service

We bought a toy for my son for Christmas. Only opened in Christmas morning to find the batter cover missing which the toy cannot operate without. I returned it today Boxing day to Canal Walk branch. I have never met such slow and non-chalant staff before. The supervisor of the tills all friendly states he has no stock but will find out. he dissappears for 20 minutes. I send a cashier to look for him who also does not return. I then approach a store mgr who says they are calling branches. wldve been nice if the told me where they were going. i left my number with them. Later i got a call from the till supervisor who says blue route and somerset west have stock and I can visit either store as they do not deliver internally (yet the defective toy was a store error). he told me he will ask blue route to keep it and come back to me with a confirmation as due to poor service i asked for a contact person at blue route store. He did not call back as promised. I then called the blue route branch myself , only to be told the supervisor was told they they only have return items and no stock and no access to this return stock. no wonder he did not call back he wldve been caught out in a lie. I then drove to Somerset West Store. A 80 kilometer round trip as advised by this store employee. Would it not have been helpful to tell a customer that the store is not open that day rather than to refer me there to find the store dark and a security guard outside saying they were not open at all? From pillar to post your service is pathetic. I call the store in canal walk on the number i was called on , no answer, i call the store on the number on the receipt , "this number does not exist". I still have a toy costing a few hundreds which is worthless as it cannot work without the component and still no help from the store. what now , who takes on the responsibility for the defective item and who reimburses my fuel costs for a store employee sending me on a wild gooschase?
