Lost gift card unretreveable

Technology of toys r us is way behind. My wallet got lost and all my cards including gift cards I was gifted for my babyshower, which were inside. I have managed to get gift cards from woolworths and baby city as they were purchased by cards and the slips were available. I tried the same process with toys r us as I had a 1000 voucher from their shop ,which I had used already. So basically it has 500 and I have slips of purchase and slips of the original gift card. I am told there is nothing they can do. Toys r us needs to find systems in place to assist with these kind of problems as we are not living in a perfect world things get lost or ******.
