Faulty battery on 2 new watches if they are NEW

I bought 3 kiddies watches at Cresta branch. 1 was for my daughter and the other 2 was for my friend's twins. My daughter's and 1 of the twins's watch are not working. I had to go buy a battery for my daughter. I was very ashamed to call my friend to ask if the watches r working as I bought them for her girls birthday. Very disappointed. I had to swallow my pride and ask which she confirmed and I asked her to go buy a battery for the one that is not working since I stay in Alberton and cannot go to her to give her the slip to return the watch. Why do I have to buy a battery for the watch that has not even been worn.
