"Consumer friendly return/refund policy" my ass

My 1 year old got a gift that was purchased at ToysRus. The gift was given with the proof of purchase. I was not happy with the content of the electronic voice of the gift and decided to return the gift to its Wonderboom Junction branch. The return policy was proudly displayed on the wall behind the tills. Lebo, the branch manager refused to except the return as the packaging was damage and according to her the product is not in a saleable condition. The return policy only state that the product must have its original packaging and slip, both which I had. I phoned there costumer service and Clive said that the company has a very "friendly return policy". He also stated that they cannot take the product due to the packaging. It must be stated that as the consumer I was in 100% compliance with their own policy as the company policy does not state that the packaging must be in a "saleable condition".

The company is not following their own policies. Furthermore as a toy company who do they think open the gifts that a child receive?

The irony is that I returned the same product (packaging was in the same condition) to one of their other branches who accepted the product (as is) and refunded me, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

I will never purchase another product from ToysRus and BabiesRus ever again, for my child(ren), our friends children, or for any future children's party my child is invited to in the future.
